Diego Gonzales, BZB Barn Celebrates Successful 2019 Winter Season

Wellington, FL (May 1, 2019) – Trainer and rider Diego Gonzales of BZB Barn concluded a successful 2019 winter season in Wellington, Florida at the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF).

“I was really proud to see both our horses and students’ progress throughout the entire circuit,” said Gonzales, who was born and raised in Argentina and started riding when he was eight years old. “There are a lot of exciting things to come for BZB Barn and I can’t wait for the future with our team, horses, and sponsors.”

Although he has risen to the top as a competitor, Gonzales has recently focused on training clients, from the Grand Prix level to children during the 2019 WEF. Among his clients are Grand Prix jumpers Samuel Parot of Chile, Hector Florentino of the Dominican Republic and Diego Vivero of Ecuador. Highlighting the season was Parot’s two Grand Prix victories.

Gonzales, who turns 52 in July, is also hoping to also compete during the 2020 season while continuing to train others.

Gonzales brings a depth of experience, having represented Argentina in numerous prestigious international eventing competitions, including the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, as well as the 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome and the Pan-Am Games in 1995 in Argentina and 1999 in Winnipeg, Canada.

Gonzales mixes concepts from jumping, dressage and eventing to help get better results for his clients but he concentrates on the basics.

“I like WEF for many reasons, for the organization, for all the events, for all the possibilities there are with multiple classes at one show,” said Gonzales. It is intensive, but it is very helpful for clients with different levels. I like to see progress, I like to make young horses.”

While growing up in Argentina, Gonzales spent 15 years in the Army, rising to the rank of Captain. He also graduated from college there with a degree in human resources. He also spent time in Venezuela before coming to America, where he has lived for the last five years. He and his wife, Claudia, have a 15-year-old son and four dogs. They live year-round in Wellington.
